Project Overview
We are embarking on an exciting project to develop a hardware-based translation device powered by open-source Large Language Models (LLMs). This innovative device, designed for use in various critical communication scenarios such as defense and first/emergency response, will operate completely offline. In addition, the device will allow for improved communication in many other sectors ranging from customer support to tourism and more. To achieve our ambitious goals, we are exploring a diverse tech stack and hardware configurations to ensure optimal performance.
Position: Software Engineer
Location: Branson, MO
Responsibilities:
- This position is a hybrid position meant for applicants in Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and potentially other states who can physically visit the office at a defined frequency. Said frequency of onsite visits will be dependent on the applicant’s experience, location, and other factors. Remote work may be considered, but the applicant must still visit the office throughout their contract.
- This position is expected to last a minimum of 6 months.
- This position is a 1099 contractor position.
- Collaborate in the design and development of a cutting-edge, hardware-based translation device using open-source LLMs and AI/ML models.
- Develop and optimize core software for quality deployment on chosen hardware configurations.
- Work closely with the hardware team to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Python.
- Develop in and with a custom embedded Linux operating system.
- Participate in all phases of the development lifecycle, from concept to deployment.
- Troubleshoot, test, and maintain the product software to ensure strong functionality and optimization.
- Contribute to the innovation of product features and performance improvements.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Python.
- Experience with standard Linux and custom embedded Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with AI/ML models and open-source Large Language Models (LLMs) is highly desirable.
- Understanding of hardware-software integration principles.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Understands how to optimize code for maximum efficiency is desirable.
- Familiarity and audio handling and manipulation is desirable.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in software development, 4+ years is preferred.
- Demonstrable knowledge of front-end and back-end development technologies.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to collaborate in team setting to develop milestones, needs, and project timelines.
- Able to work independently by taking initiative and engaging with needed issues without consistent oversight.
- Passion for innovation and a relentless drive to create industry-leading products.
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject is desirable.

- Success in this role is defined by the timely meeting of project milestones, the quality and innovation of the software developed, and the effectiveness of the deployment on hardware configurations.
